Fall of the Great Whore
Book of Revelation Chapter 18
Notice how John started the next two chapters by using the words “And after these things“, linking the paragraphs together. He is letting you know you don’t go back to the first year again with the next chapter and verse as we did when we were in the Chart. The Scriptures in this chapter give more insight as to what will take place in these seven years and the definition of symbols that were used. Babylon is figuratively a great city, the one who controls the merchants of the world. All of these Scriptures show that she not only controls the nations, but souls of mankind also. In this chapter it tells of her fall that is yet to come and all the people that partook of her.
Rev. 14:7 “…Fear God, and give glory to him, for the hour of his judgment is come:”
Rev. 14:8 “…Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”
Rev. 14:13 “…Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth:”
Rev. 18:2 “…Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen,”
Rev. 18:10 “…Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.”
Rev. 18:17 “For in one hour so great riches is come to naught…”
Rev. 18:19 “…for in one hour she is made desolate.”
Rev. 18:20 “Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.”
Rev. 18:21 “And a mighty angel took up a stone like a millstone, cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.”
Rev. 18:22 “ And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of the millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;”
Rev. 18:23 “And the light of a candle shall shine no more in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by their sorceries were all nations deceived.”
Rev. 18:24 “And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.”
With her controlling the souls of men, does this not sound like a doctrine that tries to take the place of God? Could it be the Vatican in Rome? Could she be the Jezebel; the doctrine God warned us about. (Balaam, the wealth of the world). They control most of the wealthiest institutions in the world. That is why the merchants from all over the world will cry bitterly when they see her burn. Many innocent people who died within her will wake to the truth. Christ gave warning, “get out of her”. Satan uses her to orchestrate the destruction of anyone who is not a partaker of her. This will reveal itself in these seven years. At the time of the rapture in the first year, most saints who know the Word will be gone. What will be left will be weak, where the Vatican will become strong, it will become a monstrosity again, a religious- political system governed by one, the Beast, with Satan in him.
Most people (and some Popes) don’t even know they are under submission to this man. Many people will accept Christ after the rapture and die for the faith they have accepted. Will it be as when the Church of Rome existed? People were persecuted for believing in Christ and were told to worship the whore. Will they do the same again? Satan in the Beast is the one who will control the whore.
The merchants of the world will get rich by their deceitful ways, so much so they will become drunk in their obsession for wealth. Not only will the whore want to possess all the goods of the world, they want to possess the souls of men. This is what Satan has always wanted to do, and he chooses the tool to do it with, but he knows his time is running out. From the time literal Babylon no longer existed, it was used in Scriptures as a figurative symbol of who would sit upon many of the nations from then on. The literal Babylon was never to be built again [Ezek. 26:14, 18]. The idols people partake of will be their destruction, to be damned because they did not believe the truth of Christ.
II Thes. 2:10 “And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.”
II Thes. 2:11 “And for this cause God shall send them a strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:”
II Thes. 2:12 “That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
Now we have seen the fall of Babylon (Rome), which I believe is the Vatican. Remember now; keep your eyes open because I could be wrong. Let’s now, go to the 19th chapter.
